Nurse Navigator, ACS LION Certified

Karie Nelson is Madisonhealth’s first Nurse Navigator and a key part of growing an oncology department that brings Huntsman Cancer Institute’s comprehensive cancer care close to home for patients in rural Southeast Idaho.

With six years of experience in Med-Surg, Infusion, and Cancer Care, Karie works closely with Dr. Tylan Magnusson, Lesley Goulding, NP, and a multidisciplinary team that includes an oncology pharmacist, social worker, dietitian, and financial counselors to make the cancer journey a little easier for every patient.
“I love helping good people do amazing and hard things,” she says. “Our patients and team members inspire me every day.”

Outside of work, Karie finds balance in the outdoors—hiking, rafting, and skiing with her husband—and cherishes her greatest adventure: being mom to six boys and one girl.
