Laura Musteti-Oprea, MD

Laura Musteti‑Oprea, MD serves as the Ambulatory Medical Director for St. Luke’s Behavioral Health service line, leading the development, integration, and optimization of outpatient psychiatric services across the system. She is Board‑certified in both Adult Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine; she brings deep expertise at the intersection of mental health and complex medical illness.
Dr. Musteti‑Oprea has a strong clinical focus on the care of older adults and individuals with co‑occurring neurological or medically complex conditions. She is a champion for advancing innovative and evidence‑based treatment models, with particular leadership in the growth of neuromodulation therapies.
In her leadership role, Dr. Musteti-Oprea oversees Psychiatry physician services throughout St. Luke’s western and eastern Idaho regions. Alongside her administrative responsibilities, she continues to provide direct patient care in the Treasure Valley, ensuring her leadership remains grounded in the lived experience of patients and clinicians.
Dr. Musteti‑Oprea earned her medical degree from Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timisoara, Romania. She completed her psychiatry residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and pursued advanced subspecialty training in Psychosomatic Medicine/Consult‑Liaison Psychiatry at Yale University–Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut.
