Amy Walters, PhD

Amy Walters, PhD is a clinical and health psychologist and is the Director of Behavioral Health Services for St. Luke’s Humphreys Diabetes Center. Dr. Walters also serves as the psychologist for the St. Luke’s Children’s Integrative Medicine Clinic, where she works with a multidisciplinary team to treat pediatric obesity and metabolic disease. Her work focuses on integrated behavioral health services and helping patients with chronic conditions address emotional and behavioral factors which negatively impact health and disease management. She is a professional speaker on behavioral health integration, Motivational Interviewing and psychological factors impacting chronic disease. She received her Ph.D. from Utah State University and has more than 25 years of experience working in clinical and community settings with adult and pediatric populations. She is a long-standing board member of the Idaho Psychological Association and has served on multiple work groups for the American Psychological Association. Dr. Walters has volunteered as the staff psychologist for Idaho Diabetes Youth Programs for more than 25 years and has a daughter with type 1 diabetes. She is an Idaho native and enjoys gardening, time with family and friends and outdoor recreation.
