Karen Kouba-McIver, LSW

Karen Kouba‑McIver is a social worker and program leader with more than a decade of experience supporting aging adults, caregivers, and veteran communities. She specializes in gerontology, dementia‑inclusive programming, and caregiver education, with a strong commitment to enhancing dignity, independence, and quality of life for older adults and their families.
Karen currently serves as a Project Lead with Aging Strong Programs of Jannus, where she facilitates evidence‑based caregiver workshops, develops Memory Café programs, trains volunteers for programs and delivers innovative Improv for Caregivers sessions that strengthen communication and reduce stress.
Known for her collaborative approach and ability to build trust across diverse populations, Karen brings deep expertise in resource navigation, program development, and interdisciplinary teamwork. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Boise State University, with additional training in gerontology, cognitive health, and dementia‑focused communication techniques.
