Kurt Nilsson, MD

Kurt J. Nilsson, MD, is fellowship-trained in sports medicine and specializes in non-operative management of acute and chronic shoulder, hip, knee, elbow and ankle injuries and concussions in active children and adults. He has special training in the use of ultrasound for diagnostic and interventional purposes and uses it extensively in his clinic for minimally invasive procedures, such as calcific tendinitis treatment and targeted injections.
Dr. Nilsson is a team physician for the College of Idaho, the US Ski Team, and US Soccer Federation; and has served as a concussion consultant for USA Cycling. He has also served as the medical director of the St. Luke's Concussion Clinic since it inception in 2011 and is medical director for St. Luke's Applied Research.
Dr. Nilsson earned his medical school degree from University of Utah and performed his residency at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction CO, before finishing his sports med fellowship at Intermountain Orthopaedics.
