Margaret Baker, MD, FACP

Dr. M. Hayes Baker grew up in Mississippi and received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine. She completed Internal Medicine residency at the University of Virginia before returning to her hometown to practice. Dr. Baker served as the Internal Medicine Program Director at Magnolia Regional Health Center and developed a love for community academic medicine during her tenure there. Dr. Baker held a dual role at the Providence VA Medical Center/Brown University, where she served as Chief Hospitalist and the Internal Medicine Residency Site Director. Dr. Baker is currently the Designated Institutional Officer at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She has received several teaching awards, most recently the Department of Medicine Teaching Award from the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Baker is currently Chair of the Medical Education Research Committee through the Alliance of Academic Internal Medicine. From early in her career, Dr. Baker has been passionate about the advancement of graduate medical education on an individual level through mentoring and a more global level through her local and national positions. She made Idaho her permanent home this past summer with her spouse who is a native Idahoan, three kids, and two golden retrievers.
