Regan Bailey, PhD, MPH, RD, FASN

Regan Bailey is Professor of Behavioral Science and Social Medicine and Director of the Institute for Connecting Nutrition and Health (ICON-Health) at Florida State University. She previously served as a Distinguished Professor of Nutrition at Texas A&M University and, before that, as Professor of Nutrition Science and Scientific Director of the Diet Assessment Center within the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute at Purdue University. She began her career as a civil servant at the NIH, as Nutritional Epidemiologist and Director of Career Development within the Office of Dietary Supplements and has clinical experience as a practicing Registered Dietitian. Her research program - funded by the NIH, USDA, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - applies a life-course approach to characterizing nutritional status, improving dietary assessment methods, and evaluating chronic disease risk. Through this work, her team identified elevated nutrition risk among specific population subgroups, revealing the need for targeted interventions and public health policy and supported the need for a greater focus on precision nutrition. Dr. Bailey is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Society for Nutrition.
