Being a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, my practice is focused on females from menarche through menopause. I have worked at Southeastern Idaho Public Health (SIPH) for 26 years, providing health care services to women in eight counties throughout southeast Idaho. Specific services include contraceptive care, sexually transmitted infections, cervical cancer screening, preconception care, vulvar-vaginal care, and gynecological care. I retired from full-time practice last year and currently work a few days a month at both SIPH and Pocatello Free Clinic. For 25 years, I was on faculty at Idaho State University School of Nursing. In addition to numerous presentations on various women’s health topics, two courses I consistently taught were Obstetrical/Women’s Health Nursing at the undergraduate level and Genetics for Healthcare Professionals at the graduate level.
I think ECHO Idaho is a valuable resource for health care providers. I think the biggest benefit of this continuing education opportunity is to connect providers from all over the state to experts in various medical specialties. I have attended many sessions to learn from substance use disorders experts. I am excited to be a member of the women’s health panel to educate and share professional experiences and pearls.
